The children’s safety is a concern to all of us. The expectation is that drivers will respond to traffic signs and they will be cautious when approaching the school area. We are asking for the community’s cooperation in helping to keep our students safe as they enter and exit the school building.
The best place for students to cross is at signals and crosswalks. The front of the school is very busy during the mornings and afternoons making crossing the street at a point where there are no signals and crosswalks extremely dangerous. We are asking all parents who drive/accompany their children to school to please park their cars in a safe location and use the crosswalk, sidewalks and walking paths when entering the school grounds, whenever possible.
Please remember to not block any driveways and please do not park too close to the school driveways. Busses need additional space to turn safely without clipping the front or back end of a stopped/parked car.
Also, U-turns with vehicles in front or near the school is strictly prohibited as this too is dangerous and compromises the safety of our students entering and exiting school.
Students are reminded to walk at all times and refrain from running. Students are also asked to use the sidewalks and walking paths whenever possible. It is also good practice for all pedestrians to make eye contact with motorists so that you are clearly visible to drivers. We are working daily to remind students of pedestrian safety tips and bus safety in our announcements.
As a gentle reminder, please ensure the safety of children by having them wear seat-belts correctly, at all times.
We need your collective cooperation to make student safety a priority. Together we can make our school community even safer for everyone. Many thanks for your continued cooperation.
